WHERE COULD WE HAVE RETIRED?

Southern U. S.  Warm, but still expensive.

Mexico.  Inviting, but we don't speak Spanish and there's political unrest. UPDATE:  The recent elections have tranquilized Mexico considerably.  There are a number of Gringo enclaves where you might not have to speak Spanish for weeks on end.  Check out www.expatexchange.com, and ask about various locations.

Costa Rica or Honduras.  We still don't speak Spanish. (We're learning, though!)  As with Mexico, there are enclaves of gringos.

Guatemala, El Salvador.  Revolución, anyone?

Grand Caymans, Bahamas, BermudaTempting! But we really didn't want to live on an island, especially an expensive one.   (Think about it -- everything is shipped in... it's got to be more expensive!)

Ireland or Scotland.  Brrrrrrrr.              snow_cpl.gif (22107 bytes)
