Discussion:  Belizean vs. US Schools

An interesting discussion of schools occurred on the bz-culture list this month (February 2004)

The first note is from Eve Garber, a young recent ex-pat now living in a smaller village (pop. 4000) in the Cayo District. You can read it here.

This prompted some discussion which suggested that older children might be in for a shock, particularly if they were used to US schools.

Phyllis suggested that they might miss the planned activities we have in the US.

Then Wendy Auxillou, who was born in Belize to American parents, and has raised several children in Belize contributed the counterpoint you can read here.  Wendy runs several enterprises on Caye Caulker, and has a website here.
