The Moore House

Brad and Christina Moore are two of my best friends in Belize.  They originally came down to Belize about 20 years ago, bought a little (12 ft) boat, prowled the cayes in the winter and worked in California in the summer so they could come back.  Eventually, they bought land in Sarteneja and built a house.  They bought a bigger boat.

Then they met Senor Reek.  He was teaching music at CCC, and needed a helper.  So, with a little politicking, Brad because one of the other music teachers.  He and Christina lived in the trailer in back of our house for almost a year. They played with Mis Amigos out at Copper Bank.   They shared the adventures of Hurricane Keith with us.  Here is a good picture of Brad, who eventually became THE head music teacher.

Eventually, they moved into their own house and visited their real house in Sarteneja on some weekends, and they always wanted to build another house like that one.

The house was designed by Brad (with lots of advice from Christina) and built by Sarteneja craftsman.

After they got a piece of jungle property on the north side of Corozal, they started saving, plotting, and scheming.  The new house would be essentially the same house they had in Sarteneja.  The house is "off the grid" i.e. it has its own water, and is powered by solar cells.  (A generator runs the washing machine occasionally.)

When I left, it was not finished, but we took a lot of pictures, and here are a few.

This is only a teaser.  The other pictures are on another page, which you can load if you have a pretty good bandwidth.
