Having a Hurricane Party

If you enjoyed the Keith Diaries, about our adventures during Hurricane Keith, you may look forward to a hurricane party.  (My friend Hugo, who survived 1961 Hurricane Hattie, which destroyed much of Belize City, says "You don't want to look forward to a hurricane!")

Never-the-less, you should plan the hurricane season carefully.  Many stores are closed, with the owners nailing up plywood over their windows.  (You may want to do this, particularly if your windows are not shielded by some other structure. )

Most importantly, you may want to stock up with Rum and beer BEFORE the warning is issued.  After the warning is issued, it is against the law for stores to sell alcoholic beverages.  (A local explained "The young men drink and turn into looters.")
