Groceries in Belize (Feb
2007)
This week we got a note from Mary Toy, who lives in
Placentia. (Probably more expensive than Corozal)
I just spent BZ$58 at the grocery store and here's what I got:
--3 rolls of toilet paper
--1 tomato (BZ$2.70!!!! - Belizean grown)
--1 head leaf lettuce (Belizean grown)
--1 small eggplant
--3 small yellow summer squashes
--lemon pepper (BZ$2.25, so it wasn't some fancy brand)
--1 loaf of bread
--1 bag of sandwich buns
--1 bag of Fritos
--4 pounds of chicken
Mary
OK: I went out shopping using the same list, here in Heartland West,
and here was the result.

Notes:
1. King Soopers is a Kroger subsidiary Save-alot
is an another independent chain.
2. $58bz is $29US.
So much for Belize being a cheaper place to live...
