Belize Systems Associates
Over the next few months, I will be describing Belize Systems
Associates, a consultancy I am forming to:

Show Belizean businesses how to use computers &
advanced system techniques to improve their small business.

Train some young Belizeans in advanced techniques for
requirements elicitation and definition.
-
Teach some basic modeling techniques to identify their
Critical Success Factors and predict success (or failure) in their
business..
We also hope to team with some existing Belizean
consultancies who wish to augment their current skills with very advanced group
techniques and current modeling practices.

I have a place to live and put my office, but I won't officially crank up BSA
until I respond to a "tender" (for bids) or an RFP. That is
because I will have to pay some business tax, and I don't want to do that until
I really have a business. <grin> My place is #15 Eighth Avenue,

Newest (January
2006.) Unfortunately, I had to leave Belize in a hurry. (See Escape
from Belize.) There are always many opportunities for intelligent
computerization in a third world country. Currently, most of the Government
officials have a computer on their desk, but they use it about the same way you
might use a box of index cards. Most financial systems are simply an Excel
Spreadsheet. Used assiduously, these might enable the user to generate
meaningful reports -- but of course, this depends upon timely data entry.
There are many young "college" (high school) grads
who are computer literate, and looking for a job. This presents a wide
variety of opportunities for enterprising ex-pats. If you want to discuss
these opportunities, I would be glad to do so! Write
me.
Caution: Most Government operations need expert
computer help -- however, the GOB is in deep debt, so I wouldn't count on
getting paid!
