BOOKS ON BELIZE
These are the books on our bookshelf. New.. I have finally become an Amazon
Associate, so you can easily
add them to your collection by clicking on the title, which links to Amazon!
NEWEST!! Bruce Barcott. The Last Flight of the Scarlet Macaw: One Woman's Fight to Save the World's Most Beautiful Bird
This is a WONDERFUL book!! I got it from my library. The
author shares all of the joys and surprises I first experienced when I
discovered Belize. He is properly cynical about the corruption he found here,
just as I am. I think the book will be good for Belize...probably destined to
be a best-seller... and would be wonderful if the new GOB would take it to
heart.
Here
is a NYT review of the book and here is
the first chapter!
Here is Bruce's
Website. REALLY worth a look!!
New. Here
is a review by Lan Sluder, He thinks it's the best guide to Belize
ever written!
Nancy's novel is
based on her true experiences as a flower child and bride in 80's Belize.
Must reading for anyone contemplating
moving to Belize.
Lan is the man! He knows more about Belize than almost
any one alive, and he tells you about it here.
I got this book from the US Publishing Office. It is
'official' -- full of facts, facts, facts.
Bill and Claire have been beatin' the drum for Belize for
over ten years. Kinda sugar-coated, but interesting. It does cost
more than $450 now.
Ann is a social anthropologist who grew up on Ambergris
Caye. Now a professior at UC Riverside, she offers many valuable insights into
the position of Belize in the world.
Michener is one of those things you should do like "eat
your spinach." Not near as much fun as Carl Hiaasen, but he
tells you a lot about the people who settled these islands and jungles down
here.
Newer. Free
