Another Option for Permanent Residence. (Oct 2007)

I don't understand this option very well, but I will give you the information I have and you can figure it out.

I used to have a link to Mr. Gomez and his website, and a lot of people took it.  Eventually his office wrote me and here's what they said.

Hello Belize North,

We keep receiving email requests from foreigners referred by your
 website regarding investing US $25,000 in land, home or business and
get permanent residency in Belize.

Take note that we do not provide this fast service since Immigration
also does not offer this.  Foreigners wanting Residency in Belize have
to do the following:

+ Set up a Local Company, Chapter 250 [This is a law and you need Adobe Acrobat to read it. Click here.]

+ As a Director/General Manager of the business you can apply for
   a work permit and manage your business for 1 year;

+ After living and working in Belize for 1 year, you must renew
   your work permit and have your work permit status for the second year;

+ Holding your 2nd work permit, you can then apply for Belizean
   Residency, providing that you did not leave the country of
   Belize for more than 14 days - the application process takes
   approximately 6-8 months;

+ Thereafter, once you have lived in Belize for 5 years you can
   then apply for Citizenship and Passport

Note that they cannot leave the country for more than 6 months for the
entire 5 years if they want to apply for nationality.  The first year
will be covered since they cannot leave more than 14 days; therefore,
from years 2 - 5 they can leave for a maximum of 4 weeks in each year,
1 month per year - this is better so to be on the safe side and not
going over the limited time.

Kind Regards,

enjoyable benefits."

Finally:  My personal footnote. (Oct 2007)  If you peruse Chapter 250, you will note that it was written by lawyers in order to discourage anyone from doing business without consulting a lawyer. <hee, hee>  I strongly encourage you to contact Mr. Gomez before pursuing this option!  (Legal fees start at $500 and go up.)
