ALL ABOUT BELIZE

Where is Belize?  Most people don't know!  It's on the Yucatán Peninsula, just south of Mexico.  Click here for a map of the US and Mexico.  Our town, Corozal, is about 240 miles south of Cancún -- a favorite vacation destination for North Americans.   Belize is often called one of "the ends of the earth" because it really isn't on the way to any place else.

Why Belize?  In a nutshell, because they speak English (sort of.)  There are a lot of other good reasons to come here to visit or even retire. Click here to find out why you should come on down.

What's Belize like?  It's a "user-friendly" third-world country.  Click here to get the details on what Belize is really like!  New.  See what National Geographic thinks.

Getting to Belize?  Common carriers come here. (surprise!?!)   Or you can drive down thru Mexico. Or, you can bring your car on a ferry from Tampa.  Click here to check out your options.

Bring a Vehicle In?  So you think you need your car here?  Read all about it here.

Customs.  The Government of Belize (GOB) pays a lot of its expenses with Taxes and Tarrifs.  Here, you can find an itemized list of the things that they exact duty on, and how much they charge  (This handy list is new to the Internet; you used to have to buy a book which cost several hundred dollahs!)

What About Hurricanes?  Admit it; you're a little worried, right?

Things You Should Know about Belize...even (especially) if you live here!!

The Moore House.  New. An interesting approach to living here in Belize.

DiversityBelize is a country of diverse people.  Victoria Ogaldez has done a wonderful job of describing Belize and its diversity, and I invite you to visit her site here

Experience.  Here is a summary of the experiences of an expat tour guide and sea captain from Caye Caulker who escaped to Florida, and then came back to Belize to retire.

Statistics.  New.  This site is just starting out.  It will have all the official statistics on Belize.

Books on Belize.  A list of the books on my bookshelf.
