The Qualified Retired Person (QRP) Program

(Updated April 2005)    

To qualify, you must be 45 or older, and you must have your authorized source of funds deposit $2000 US (per family) in a Belizean bank every month.  (There is no residence requirement; you can qualify before you leave your country of origin.  )

Benefits: 

1. You can bring in a car, boat and/or plane duty free.  The car must be newer than four years old.   

2. You can bring in your household goods ($15,000US worth) when you come. 

Gotcha's:

1. You can't work in Belize, except in your own business.   (Working on the Internet is not considered working in Belize, unless you're doing the work for Belizeans.)
