The New Harvest Christian Center
Last August, the owner defaulted on our old building. Atlantic bank took back its paper and decided they would move the bank into it because it's a better address than their current location.
"Get out, Christians," they said, "We've got to start renovating."
[It's been a year, and they still haven't started renovating.]
Lisa start looking, and in about a week she found a pretty good prospect, an old chemical warehouse in the south (our) end of town. The owners wanted $600BZ rental, but when she said it was for a church, they said "Oh...in that case, $300" and we started trying to turn it into a church.
Of course, Lisa has a vision of what she would like to have, and we had, pretty much, a blank canvas to start with. Charlotte knew that the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary had a bunch of sheets which they had culled out of donated sheets because they had little rips and tears, and she got a bunch of these from Olga. They put the sheets up on "tying wire" -- the wire used to tie the poles together in a palapa -- to partition off a sanctuary, a teen room, and a children's church. Leftover space is used for storage.
Alas, we don't have a good picture of the sanctuary yet, but here are some pix of the rest of the church.
The church was a chemical warehouse, and the two big doors make access easy!!
